Laundry opened in November 2013 and is independently owned and operated in Sheffield & London. Its heart is excellence in hairdressing, cut and colour, and with a mind scissor sharp of creation. We think differently about hairdressing and lifestyle. We're comfortable luxury - no airs and graces, just dedicated to the cause of making you look and feel top notch.
Since opening in November 2013 Laundry for hair has been shining high in the National, local and regional media spotlight. Our mindfullness of 'comfortable luxury' in our daily life through our interior, techniques, team and approach means Laundry is topical, interesting, newsworthy and progressive.
We were finalists for 'Independent Salon, Business Newcomer' in the 2015 British Hairdressing Business Awards and are 2014 winners in the 'Most Wanted Awards' for BEST NEW SALON in the UK by Creative Head Magazine.
We're inspired by Laundrettes, American Laundromats and Washaterias - hangouts for gathering, gossiping - a community, a hub - a place you go to get the buzz in the town. Of course we are Laundry for hair so you're not going to get a 'bed and bath' cycle with extra fabric conditioner - but you will get hair that you'll be proud to have on your head and good friendly chatter. That's why we're called a 'Super Salon' by Hairdressers Journal!
We're really proud of how we look. Every part of Laundry has been built by hand. Think honest fabrics - rescued woods, smooth and cool to the touch concrete polished and buffed up, luxurious leather, exposed brick and iron wrought in Sheffield.
Laundry Sheffield is based in one side of the Grade II listed 19th-century courtyard complex that was originally occupied by the offices, warehouse, workshops and grinding rooms of John Sellers and Sons. They were manufacturers of pen and pocket knives, razors and table cutlery.
Laundry's first venture in London is a true collaboration, born out of pure inspiration, this came in the form of the immensely talented and driven duo Jenni Ball and Kate Du-Plessis! The team behind the award winning Sheffield salon quite simply had to help provide a suitable space for the dynamic duo to thrive.
The end result with its reclaimed surfaces and bespoke furniture speaks for itself and we would welcome anyone to pop by for a peek. The working ethos is simple, relaxed quality with an eye for detail all orchestrated by Jen and Kate. We are of course an inclusive environment with your hair and experience being our only concern.
Mow's is a little independent coffee hangout which you'll find right at the front of Laundry in Sheffield. We have an extensive but pretence free speciality coffee menu and we're proud to brew and shout about coffee from the top roasters in the uk and around the world alongside house coffees from Dark Woods and artisan hot chocolate from Mörk Cacao, London.
